NZ Customs
The NZ Customs Service has recently made changes to the rules and regulations regarding the duty free entry into NZ of unaccompannied baggage and household effects.
In the past, if you arrived in NZ and did not hold a document authorising residence in NZ, you were charged duty on the goods imported. The changes mean that as long as you hold documentation authorising your NZ residence on the date your goods enter NZ, you will not be charged duty. Note that any new goods or goods not intended for personal use will still attracct Customs charges.
The NZ Customs Service's definition of a document authorising residence covers a number of different visas and permits. Make sure you check out the facts before you make plans to ship your goods to NZ. For more information contact NZ Customs.
