Rent a Car
Rental cars are very popular in New Zealand. You can hire almost any kind of vehicle, ranging from economical 2 door hatchbacks to big 7-berth campervans.
Rental car companies operate at all major airports in New Zealand where you can pick-up and drop off your vehicle. Many rental companies will have a box at their airport service counter where you can drop the car's keys if it's outside business hours.
Most cities in New Zealand have a range of rental companies, and rates are generally competitive. Rental cars generally have higher rates through Summer, although companies often have special rates for longer rentals. A quick reminder, Kiwi's drive on the left hand side of the road!

Warrant & Registration
You need to ensure you register your vehicle if it is new or obtain a current license if the vehicle is already registered. You also need to make sure your car has a current Warrant of Fitness (renewable every 6 months). For more information contact the NZ Automobile Association or the NZ Land Transport Safety Authority.
