Changes to 'business experience' requirements for Long-Term Business Visa applications means potential migrants are no longer obligated to start a venture similar to what they were managing in their home country.

According to the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment (NZAMI), the Government has relaxed its interpretation of 'relevant business experience', which now means 'overall business acumen/experience'.

This means potential migrants have the flexibility to choose what type of business they wish to establish in New Zealand, regardless of the type of business they were operating back home.

The NZAMI assumes this interpretation will also apply to the Entrepreneur Plus category in satisfying "Business experience relevant to business plan".
